WLYH DOCK BOX STANDARDS

JUNE 15, 2022

Club Rule #10 states:

“Piers, docks, and boardwalks shall remain clear of obstructions that impede safe pedestrian traffic. Picnic tables are not allowed on the docks or piers. Alterations to docks and boardwalks must be approved by the Board of Directors. Dock boxes are allowed under the requirements approved by the Board.

The requirements were approved by the Board many years ago and are as follows:

  1. The dock box must be fiberglass and of standard size, approximately 48” x 26” in length and width.

  2. The dock box must be mounted on a standard-size metal frame with 2 supports.

  3. Standard frame dimensions are 47.50” x 25.75” outside & 47.125” x 25.375” inside, 3/16” thick metal.

  4. The frame must be mounted at about 14.75” on the dock, in line with the nearest power pedestal, with an 11” overhang.
This is to keep docks clear of obstructions that impede safe pedestrian traffic.

  5. The 2 supports must be secured to the seawall with suggested self-drilling metal screws, or to the wooden pier with lag bolts.
