News & Information

  • Insurance: Prior to May 1st, 2010, it is required that all Shareholders and/or Lessees provide Wheeler Landing Yacht Harbor with an insurance certificate showing proof of proper liability insurance coverage on their boat. Please make sure the certificates include valid dates, required coverage amounts, and indemnification. You can either fax this information in to WLYH or American Real Estate or give it directly to the Harbormaster. But please remember that the Harbormaster must have this in hand before you bring your boat in. Please refer to By-Laws and General Rules for information regarding insurance as well as other important requirements and regulations of Wheeler Landing Yacht Harbor. Please contact us if you need a copy.
  • Address Corrections: Please make sure that if you have changed your address and/or phone number that you notify Wheeler Landing Yacht Harbor to make the necessary changes. Changes can be made via phone, fax, or email to a member of the Board of Directors.
  • Dock Boxes: Dock boxes are allowed under regulations adopted by the Board. Basically, boxes must be of a specific design to be uniform throughout the marina. No decals, logos, boat names, or markings are allowed. The box remains the property of the lessee or shareholder and can be removed by it's owner. A complete list of the rules governing the installation of dock boxes, costs involved, and the installation requirements can be obtained from Jim Patterson, one of our board members. He is in charge of all dock box installations and can be reached at his company

Or catch Jim in the marina at Slip #225. More details about the dock box specifications can be found on the Apex web site.
  • Energy Conservation: Energy costs continue to go up. To forestall additional increases in dues (and subsequent lease rates) the board has been looking for ways to conserve energy costs. One good way we can accomplish this goal is to request that boat air conditioner units not be left running when no one is on board, especially when people will be gone for several days. Please help by cooperating and doing your part to help conserve.
  • Spring Maintenance Season: Before the season opens we will be busy with maintenance and getting ready for the season open on May 1st. We will have a large barge (or two) in the marina that will need to be able to maneuver to various docks to do necessary repairs. During this time it is imperative that boats not get in the way. If you must have your boat in the water and docked prior to May 1st, you must contact the Harbormaster (as you would normally need to anyway) to arrange for a parking spot (please see the "Early-In" section on the Season Open page for details). We want to keep the number of boats in the marina to a minimum during maintenance season to reduce the risk of damage from the marina contractor equipment and to reduce repair delays/costs. Also be aware that many services (such as water) will not be available until the official season open date of May 1st. Please ensure that if you do have a boat in the marina during spring maintenance, that you provide the Harbor Master with a good way to contact you in the event your boat needs to be moved to facilitate marina repairs.
